Medical Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging or Clinical Thermography is a non-invasive, safe, screening tool that pictures and analyzes changes in the skin’s surface temperature. Clinical Thermography has been FDA-registered since 1982 and in the past decade has been used increasingly by doctors and technicians who are dissatisfied with current health screening protocol. It is a simple, painless, 100% radiation-free early detection testing procedure using highly sophisticated infrared cameras to obtain colorful, heat-based photos of various body parts. The scan gives information about the physiology of the body, where there’s inflammation, abnormal vascular activity or sympathetic pain. The images are reviewed and analyzed by medical doctors who are board-certified in thermology, with results usually back in 48 hours. Some insurance companies see the value of this new technology and cover thermography screenings, though it is surprisingly affordable – about $175 (breast or single region of interest) – $450 (full body) for a screening which includes the interpretation and consultation. Discounts are offered for buddy appointments, senior and military. This technology is supported by 30 years of research and over 8000 published medical studies.

Many women of all ages are seeking out Breast Thermography as a complimentary procedure to traditional mammography. Mat-Su Skin Deep Thermal Imaging offers Alaska’s only Certified Clinical Thermographers (Dori, Danielle and Cathy) who received their thermography certifications through the American College of Clinical Thermology. Dori says, “All women want to be treated fairly and with compassion. Many admit to not wanting to expose their breasts to radiation or painful compression. Thermography is a great choice,” She goes on to say, “Thermography is perfect for younger women with dense breast tissue, for men (more and more are being diagnosed with breast cancer each year), and for women who have undergone breast augmentation/reduction surgery and finally for those with no mamms to gram!” Full body scans are increasing in popularity as more people engage in a preventative lifestyle.
